Summer Hiking: Mt. Pundaquit Traverse to Anawangin Cove

World Oceans Day, held every June 8th, is the United Nations-recognized day of ocean celebration and action. People all over our blue planet organize celebrations – which can be a huge event in your community, a special announcement, or anything in between – to support action to protect the ocean. This year, the theme is “Healthy Oceans, Healthy Planet, and we’re making a special effort to stop plastic pollution.

Summer Hiking: Mt. Pundaquit Traverse to Anawangin Cove

San Antonio, Zambales, April 18 & 19, 2015

Anawangin Cove is in the province of Zambales, facing the South China Sea. Considered  to be the nearest mainland to the Philippine-claimed EEZ , Internationally known as “Scarborough Shoal “, China calls it “Huangyan Island”, And the the Philippines calls it “Panatag Shoal” or “Bajo de Masinloc” and by virtue of proximity, the latter is designated as part of the municipality. Which create a tension now between China’s claim, of indisputable sovereignty over nearly the entire South China Sea. Even though I’m an early riser, I enjoy the sunset as much as the sunrise . The sunset is really an amazing event and we are lucky to have the chance to witness it every single day.  By sharing these favorite quotes  of mine about sunset, and you might find the inspiration again..... “I wonder why the sunset is more colorful than sunrise...!? Guess it’s the irony of life...Sometimes better things could really happen in saying goodbye.”
Both the Anawangin & Nagsaza Cove are considered to be pine-tree-lined beaches which is one unique scenery of the place. And because these are coves, the water is calm and the shore gently slopes. Feel free to pitch a tent and stay the night, just don't go looking for a cellphone signal!

We enjoy our boat ride as we pass through spectacular and scenic rock formation going to Capones Island.
Capones Island from afar is like a floating giant shoes.

As usual the one missing in the group is the one taking the picture! GEGE...
We should support our government in their campaigns on the issue of territorial claim over Panatag Shoal and Spratly’s Island, even though China is taking steps to control South China Sea. Our government is still following the correct, orderly and intelligent approaches on the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). By these act we are showing to the world that we Filipino’s are law abiders.

-    Sometime this June UNCLOS  will officially announced the result on the pleading of our government about the issue. But I still believe all of this issue will be resolved in Gods perfect time. In the words of the song of Yeng Constantino entitled “Chinito” Bakit ba ang pungay ng bintana ng iyong mundo, Isang ngiti mo lang sakin, Ay baon ko hangang pag-uwi, Oh chinito, way back in our history Filipinos and Chinese are good trades partners. Through the years we build up friendships and up to the point we share the same Filipino – Chinese culture, custom,  and traditions. And for the fact that Filipino – Chinese are represented in all the levels of Philippine society particularly in the portion of Philippine economy which is composed of Filipino – Chinese businessman.

Traveling is not just for  fun and enjoyment at the same time learning from where the setting is. “It is the encounter with people that make life worth living” – Guy De Maupassant

Do it all for the glory of God!
